Local community members were saying a big thank you to the Baloch Family, who sponsored flu shots in preparation for this year’s flu season. In collaboration with MetroMed Urgent Care, located at 952 Edwards Ferry Road in Leesburg, more than 400 flu shots were administered free of charge from September through November.
MetroMed Urgent Care, owned and operated by Dr. Roshelle Beckwith, a Board-Certified emergency medicine physician, was established three years ago in the shopping center next to Wal-Mart. Dr. Beckwith provides medical attention to the Leesburg community. As an appreciation of the care and treatment from MetroMed Urgent Care paired with the desire to help local residents, the Baloch family donated money to purchase flu vaccines for anyone who is in need but cannot afford this important vaccination. Any person who walked into MetroMed Urgent Care during this charity event asking for a flu shot received a free flu vaccine administered by medical assistants Kellen Greenwell, Malik Zandosov, and Victoriya Eggen.
This was the first charity event for MetroMed Urgent Care, and turned out to be a great success. Instead of a tentative 3 month dead line to administer all vaccines, it took only one and a half months, with more patients still requesting flu vaccines every day. Being such a great opportunity for the community, MetroMed Urgent Care hopes to make this an annual event.
